Privacy policy

Intelligent Metrics Inc. operates intelligentrics.com. The operator is a corporation registered in Ontario, Canada, so the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) governs this policy. Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) governs the email list described below.

There is no account, no login and no shopping cart. Reading any page requires you to submit nothing. The site stores nothing in your browser's local storage or session storage, and it sets no cookie of its own.

Two cookies can still appear, and both come from Cloudflare rather than from this site. The domain is proxied through Cloudflare, which acts as the content delivery network and the security layer in front of the host.

Both are security cookies, set by a processor, for the purpose of keeping the site available. Neither is used for analytics, advertising or personalisation. No other cookie is set by anything on this site, which is why there is no consent banner to dismiss.

Page views and referrers are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is injected at the Cloudflare edge, so it appears in no source file in this repository. It uses no cookie and no client-side storage, and Cloudflare states that it does not fingerprint visitors by IP address or user agent.

What it produces is aggregate: how many times a page was loaded, which site a visitor arrived from, and rough country and device class. It does not identify you and it cannot be joined to your email address or to anything else on this page.

There is no session recording, no heatmap, no advertising pixel and no remarketing tag anywhere on this site.

Two pages carry a form: the benchmark page and the playbook page. Subscribing is the only way this site collects personal information from you, and it is entirely optional.

The form posts directly to Buttondown, the email provider, so your address is stored with Buttondown and never touches the hosting account for this site. What Buttondown holds is your email address, the timestamp of your confirmation, and the standard delivery records of the messages sent to you.

Confirmation is double opt-in. Subscribing sends you an email, and you are added to the list only after you click the link in it. That click is the consent record CASL requires. Consent is never assumed and no box on the form is pre-checked.

Each form states its own purpose, and that purpose is the whole purpose. The benchmark form: an email when a new benchmark run publishes on this site. The playbook form: an email with the link to the repository that holds the kit, an email when the playbook changes in a way that matters, and at most one message asking how the install went.

The two lists are kept apart with a tag that the playbook form sets when you subscribe. Benchmark mail goes only to benchmark subscribers and playbook mail only to playbook subscribers. Neither list is used for the other's purpose, and neither is sold, rented, traded or shared, or used for unrelated marketing.

Open tracking is off, so the messages carry no tracking pixel. Every message carries the sender's name, the mailing address at the top of this page, and a working unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe requests are honoured within 48 hours, and unsubscribing removes the address from the list.

Four third parties are involved, and each one handles a single, named job.

The case study page embeds one Vimeo demo behind a click-to-load facade. No Vimeo script, iframe or cookie loads until you press Play. If you never press it, Vimeo learns nothing about your visit. If you do, Vimeo's own privacy policy applies to the player.

These processors operate in Canada, the United States and elsewhere, so information handled by them may be stored or processed outside Canada and may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.

Under PIPEDA you can ask what personal information is held about you, ask for a copy, ask that it be corrected, and withdraw consent at any time. In practice the only personal information held here is a mailing list subscription, so in most cases the answer is that nothing is held.

Email [email protected] and you will get a response within 30 days, which is the PIPEDA limit. To leave the list without contacting anyone, use the unsubscribe link in any message.

If you are unsatisfied with the response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

Subscriber addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Server and CDN logs are retained on the platforms' own schedules, which are short and measured in days or weeks rather than years. The site is served over HTTPS only, with HTTP Strict Transport Security enabled.

Changes to this policy are published on this page with a new date at the top. If a change materially affects subscribers, it goes to the list as well.
